Captain Howdy

CAPTAIN HOWDY was inspired by the font often seen on classic Ouija® boards. Yet another woodtype, "circus," or "Western" font. Cleanly redrawn using my 70s-vintage wooden Ouija® board as a model. I never cared much for playing with it, I just liked the way it looks!

We Want Trader Joe's in the Capital Region

Captain Howdy is what Regan, the possessed girl in The Exorcist, calls the spirit who contacts her through her Ouija® board. ("Oui" and "ja" are "yes" and "yes" in French and German!) If you're interested in "talking boards", as they are known generically, you MUST visit The Museum of Talking Boards. And now there's my second Ouija®-inspired font, Sideshow, back one step on the Font Tour!)

At left is an example of CAPTAIN HOWDY in use by Trader Joe's. I love TJ's graphics so I'm really happy to see this. Thanks, Eric; no Trader Joe's yet in Albany :-(
